On Oct. 12, I had the opportunity to unexpectedly interview Oyster Bay based artist Mort Kunstler. Kunstler’s artwork, reflecting the Civil War is currently on display at the Nassau County Museum of Art. His artwork, full of realism, is on display until early next year. The story I was assigned was to report on the artwork in the museum. I also found it most interesting that such a talented artist lives locally. The time I went to report happened to be the time a tour was going on in the museum so I was able to listen to the guides and hear the story behind some of the paintings and I also interviewed a couple of patrons who were on the tour. Overall, during the interview with Kunstler, I was able to learn what his inspiration was for the paintings and his feelings for having his artwork shown locally in a museum. Stay tuned to LI News Tonight for the full report.
